FAQs

It prescribes the offering/investing of a pavitraka (purificatory cord/amulet) to the deity, explicitly naming the rite as pavitrāropaṇa and stating its purpose as ritual purification.

Beyond mythic narrative, it records a concrete temple/household worship procedure—complete with rite-name (pavitrāropaṇa), liturgical address, and stated result—showing the Agni Purana functioning as a practical ritual handbook.

The verse frames pavitrāropaṇa as a purifier (pavitrīkaraṇa) and as conferring the accumulated merit of year-long worship (varṣapūjā-phala), i.e., a consolidating and sanctifying act for one’s devotional practice.
