FAQs

It gives Vāstu-śāstra finishing ratios for doorways: how many parts/sections should be smoothed on the interior versus exterior, including specific proportions for subsidiary doors (upadvāra).

Beyond theology, it preserves practical architectural standards—detailing aesthetic and functional rules for building elements like doors—showing the text’s coverage of applied sciences (Vāstu) alongside ritual and dharma.

In Purāṇic Vāstu, correct proportions and orderly finishing are treated as auspicious, supporting harmony in the dwelling/temple and reducing doṣa (architectural inauspiciousness) that could affect occupants’ well-being and merit.
