The Glory of Mathurā: The Account of Piṇḍa-Offering at the Catuḥsāmudrika Well

पितृपैतामही कीर्तिरविक्रेया हि सा मया ॥ प्रेतः प्रहस्य सानन्दमिदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥

pitṛpaitāmahī kīrtir avikreyā hi sā mayā || pretaḥ prahasya sānandam idaṃ vacanam abravīt ||

“Nama baik warisan ayah dan nenek moyang—sesungguhnya itu tidak boleh aku jual.” Setelah ketawa, preta (roh si mati) dengan gembira mengucapkan kata-kata ini.
