The Account of Saramā: Indra’s Restoration after Loss of Sovereignty

एवमुक्तास्तदा देवाः गाः पशूंश्चानुकल्प्य ते । मुमुचुश्चरणार्थाय रक्षार्थं सरमां ददुः ॥ १६.१२ ॥

evam uktās tadā devā gāḥ paśūṁś cānukalpya te | mumucuś caraṇārthāya rakṣārthaṁ saramāṁ daduḥ || 16.12 ||

Setelah dinasihati demikian, para dewa pun mengatur dengan sewajarnya lembu-lembu dan haiwan lain; dan demi pergerakan serta perlindungan mereka, semuanya dilepaskan dan Saramā ditetapkan sebagai penjaga.
