Varaha Purana 11.83 — Adhyaya 11, Shloka 83

Hospitality at Gauramukha’s Hermitage and the Power of the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel

FAQs

It reflects a Purāṇic-style retelling that adopts epic martial conventions (duels, taunts, missile imagery), illustrating how Purāṇas preserve and reframe earlier narrative materials for later audiences.

No specific geographic toponym is named in this verse; it is a battlefield setting without explicit location markers in the given line.

Implicitly, it presents the martial ethos of valor and confrontation (śūrāḥ, dvandvāni), while also foregrounding the dangers of escalation through taunts and weapon-trajectory exposure.
