cīravalkaladhṛktyaktvā vastrāṇyābharaṇāni ca | nāgādhipatyaṃ prāpnoti upavāsena mānavaḥ
Dengan memakai pakaian kulit kayu dan kain compang-camping, meninggalkan pakaian indah serta perhiasan, seseorang mencapai kekuasaan sebagai penguasa Nāga melalui upavāsa (puasa).
