Transliteration

brahmaṇā'bhihitaṃ pūrvaṃ yāvanmātraṃ marīcaye | brāhmaṃ taddaśasāhasraṃ purāṇaṃ tadihocyate

Apa yang dahulu Brahmā ajarkan kepada Marīci—walau sebesar mana pun ukurannya—di sini dinamakan Brāhma Purāṇa, yang terdiri daripada sepuluh ribu ayat.
