Type: kshetra
Scene: A formidable ascetic-warrior stands at a consecrated pit or basin symbolically ‘filled’—the verse evokes a stark tableau of kṣatriya-kṣaya and the hero’s claim of pitṛ-ṛṇa release, set against the coastal sacredness of Prabhāsa.
Purāṇic dharma frames actions within a ledger of obligations (ṛṇa), including duty to ancestors, though later verses emphasize purification through tapas and tīrtha.
The verse continues the Paraśurāma account; the tīrtha focus remains within the broader chapter that culminates in Prabhāsa-kṣetra’s expiatory power.
No explicit rite is prescribed; it states attainment of ānṛṇya (discharged ancestral debt) as a narrative result.
