Dahulu, Hara—Maheśāna—pernah dipanggil oleh Dakṣa sebagai “Kapālī”. Oleh sebab itu, Kapālī pun menyebabkan yajña itu musnah. Dalam Manvantara ini, Baginda tetap bersemayam di sini dengan nama “Kapāleśvara”.
