yayātiruvāca | kimarthaṃ bhagavanvahniḥ purā naṣṭo dvijottama | kathaṃ tatraiva labdhastu kautukaṃ me mahāmune
Type: ghat
Listener: Pulastya
Scene: Yayāti, a regal figure, folds hands and questions Pulastya; the tīrtha landscape is hinted behind them, with a small flame symbolizing the ‘lost Agni’ mystery.
Sacred geography is often understood through inquiry; questioning a sage opens the meaning behind tīrtha legends.
Agni-tīrtha is the implied focus, as Yayāti asks about Agni’s loss and rediscovery there.
None; it is a narrative question introducing the tīrtha’s backstory.
