Munis (Sages)
Listener: Sūta-putra (Ugraśravas/Sauti figure in purāṇic frame)
Scene: A circle of sages in a forest hermitage, seated on kuśa grass, hands folded; they address Sūta’s son with earnest faces, requesting the full account of Garuḍa’s wing-loss and Śiva’s satisfaction.
Sacred narratives are preserved through respectful inquiry and faithful retelling, revealing how divine grace responds to dharmic effort.
The chapter’s tīrtha/kṣetra in Nāgarakhaṇḍa is the setting; the sages’ question frames the site’s māhātmya by seeking the miracle connected with it.
None; this verse is a narrative prompt requesting the full account.
