Type: kshetra
Listener: Best of the twice-born (dvija-sattamāḥ) — the assembled sages
Scene: A court scene: astrologers and brāhmaṇas plead; the king, stern and conflicted, refuses the offered poison-maiden; attendants hold gifts; the maiden stands veiled, ominous aura subtly suggested.
A ruler must act with discernment and heed wise counsel; stubborn attachment can become a cause of suffering for self and realm.
This verse functions as narrative setup within the Tīrthamāhātmya of Nāgarakhaṇḍa; the specific tīrtha praise is contextual to the broader chapter rather than named in this single line.
None in this verse; it is a narrative statement about counsel, resolve, and royal conduct.
