Type: ghat
Scene: Pilgrims walking a dusty road toward a river ford and temple; at the water’s edge they bathe, offer lamps and flowers, and their bodies are shown with a subtle aura of cleansing light.
Pilgrimage is a purificatory discipline; sacred geography functions as a dharmic means of inner and outer cleansing.
The verse speaks generally of tīrtha-yātrā; the chapter’s setting belongs to Hāṭakeśvara-kṣetra within the Nāgara-khaṇḍa.
Undertaking tīrtha-yātrā (pilgrimage) itself is the prescription, framed as a source of śuddhi (purification).
