Skanda (deduced)
Type: kshetra
Scene: A symbolic tableau: a grand aśvattha tree, Hari enthroned, and a dignified local brāhmaṇa representing ‘aṣṭakula’—all arranged as a triad of ‘foremost’ exemplars.
Purāṇic dharma often teaches through analogies: as nature and divinity have ‘foremost’ exemplars, so too ritual communities recognize exemplary lineages.
The verse supports the sacred-place framework by describing eminence among local brāhmaṇas connected to the tīrtha’s ritual order.
For rites like śrāddha, preference is implied for the most esteemed local brāhmaṇa category—here, the aṣṭakula-born.
