Type: kshetra
Listener: Ṛṣis (implied Sūta-saṃvāda frame)
Scene: Sūta narrates: the udgātṛ calls out and repeatedly urges the Goddess to stay; she is already lifted by a splendid vimāna and hovers mid-sky above the city, suspended between departure and continued presence.
Vedic ritual voices and dharmic requests can ‘pause’ even divine transitions, highlighting the power of sanctioned worship and sacred speech.
The narrative occurs within a tīrtha-māhātmya framework; the hovering Devī scene amplifies the sanctity of the ritual-location being described in the chapter.
The presence of the udgātṛ implies Sāma-vedic chanting within the ritual setting; the immediate act is the injunction ‘tiṣṭha tiṣṭha’ to delay departure for worship.
