Scene: At dawn, a pilgrim stands waist-deep in sacred water, hands joined, facing the first rays of the sun; the sky is saffron, lotuses and ripples surround him; subtle aura suggests sins dissolving into the water.
Purification is intensified when devotion, correct procedure, auspicious time (tithi), and sacred place (tīrtha) converge.
The Dīrghikā-saras (sacred pond) within the Śrīhāṭakeśvara-kṣetra narrative.
Snāna in the pond on Jyeṣṭha-śukla-caturdaśī, performed properly while facing the Sun’s sunrise.
