एवंभूतस्तदा शंभुः पार्वतीं प्रति चाग्रतः । उवाच त्वरया युक्तो वरं वरय भामिनि
evaṃbhūtastadā śaṃbhuḥ pārvatīṃ prati cāgrataḥ | uvāca tvarayā yukto varaṃ varaya bhāmini
Ketika itu, Śambhu dalam keadaan demikian berkata kepada Pārvatī yang berdiri di hadapannya. Dengan segera Baginda bersabda: “Wahai yang jelita, pilihlah satu anugerah—pohonlah apa yang engkau kehendaki.”
