बर्बरीक उवाच । अहं कुरुकुलोत्पन्नः पांडुपुत्रस्य पौत्रकः । बर्बरीक इति ख्यातस्तं दैत्यं हंतुमागतः
barbarīka uvāca | ahaṃ kurukulotpannaḥ pāṃḍuputrasya pautrakaḥ | barbarīka iti khyātastaṃ daityaṃ haṃtumāgataḥ
Barbarīka berkata: “Aku lahir daripada keturunan Kuru, cucu kepada putera Pāṇḍu. Dikenali sebagai Barbarīka, aku datang untuk membunuh daitya itu.”
