garuḍa uvāca | matsyādināṃ vasanmadhye kathaṃ jñeyo dvijo mayā abhakṣyo yastvayā proktastaccihnaṃ kiṃ canāttha me
Type: kshetra
Listener: Audience of the Kāśīkhaṇḍa discourse
Scene: Garuḍa, the mighty bird-vehicle, bows and questions Vinatā with folded hands; behind them a riverside settlement with nets, boats, and fisherfolk suggests the ‘matsyādi’ milieu; the mood is didactic and investigative.
Right action depends on right recognition; dharma calls for careful discernment before judging or harming.
No site is directly praised in this line; it is part of Kāśī Khaṇḍa’s doctrinal narration.
None; the verse requests criteria (cihna) for identifying a dvija.
