Tirtha: Gaṅgā in Kāśī (Jāhnavī-tīra)
Type: ghat
Listener: Śaunaka and ṛṣis (Naimiṣāraṇya frame, typical)
Scene: Personified Gaṅgā as a radiant goddess on a riverbank at Kāśī, cutting through dark clouds of sin and snapping chains of bondage; devas above sheltered as if by her protective veil.
Divine grace is ethical and liberating: the Goddess destroys deceit and hypocrisy, removes sin, and breaks the chains binding the soul.
Kāśī is the implied sacred context of the hymn within the Kāśīkhaṇḍa.
No explicit rite; the verse implies devotional praise as a means for pāpa-kṣaya and bandha-vimocana (release from bondage).
