क्षयापस्मारकुष्ठा दीन्क्षुद्रप्रेतपिशाचकान् । नाशयेत्तस्य सन्तुष्टा दुर्गा महिषमर्दिनी
kṣayāpasmārakuṣṭhā dīnkṣudrapretapiśācakān | nāśayettasya santuṣṭā durgā mahiṣamardinī
Dengan berkenan atas amal ibadatnya, Dewi Durgā—Mahīṣamardinī, pembunuh Mahiṣa—memusnahkan baginya penyakit susut (tibi), sawan, kusta, kesengsaraan, serta gangguan roh halus kecil, preta dan piśāca.
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) to the sages (deduced from Purāṇic narration style within Brāhma Khaṇḍa)
Tirtha: Setukṣetra
Type: kshetra
Scene: Durgā Mahīṣamardinī stands radiant, trident raised, subduing the buffalo-demon while a devotee performs rite with lamp and flowers; shadowy pretas/piśācas dissolve; symbols of disease (wasting, seizures, skin lesions) fade into light.
Sincere ritual devotion invokes the Goddess’s protective grace, removing both physical illness and subtle spirit-afflictions.
Setu/Setukṣetra (traditionally identified with the Setu region connected with Rāmeśvaram) within the Setukhaṇḍa.
The verse implies the fruits of properly performed Mahālaya-related rites (contextually Mahālaya-śrāddha), which please the Goddess.
