Type: kshetra
Listener: Bhārata (royal listener)
Scene: Indra, humbled, with a softened face of remorse, performs focused worship toward an unseen Śiva; symbolic shadow of Vṛtra-vadha (a fallen serpent/dragon form) fades behind him as purification begins.
Even grave wrongdoing is addressed through acknowledgement, restraint, and devoted worship—Śiva is upheld as the refuge for purification.
The expiation narrative forms the background for the Indrasara/Indreśvara tīrtha’s sanctity.
Single-pointed, disciplined Śiva-ārādhana (worship/propitiation) as a means of prāyaścitta (expiation).
