ततोऽभवन्महायुद्धं दारुणं च भयानकम् । पपौ देवी तु मैरेयं वधार्थं सुमहाबला

tato'bhavanmahāyuddhaṃ dāruṇaṃ ca bhayānakam | papau devī tu maireyaṃ vadhārthaṃ sumahābalā

Kemudian berlakulah pertempuran hebat yang dahsyat dan menakutkan. Dewi yang amat gagah meminum maireya dengan niat untuk membunuh musuh.
