Skanda Purana — Avanti Khanda, Shloka 75

कृष्णांशात्कृष्णनामायं व्यासो वेदान्व्यसिष्यति । विरञ्चिनाभिषिक्तोऽसौ मुनिसङ्घैः पुनःपुनः

kṛṣṇāṃśātkṛṣṇanāmāyaṃ vyāso vedānvyasiṣyati | virañcinābhiṣikto'sau munisaṅghaiḥ punaḥpunaḥ

Kerana merupakan bahagian daripada Kṛṣṇa, beliau menyandang nama ‘Kṛṣṇa’; dan sebagai Vyāsa, beliau akan menyusun serta membahagi Weda. Virañci (Brahmā) menobatkan beliau, dan rombongan para muni berulang kali memuliakan beliau.
