Type: kshetra
Listener: Rājendra (king)
Scene: Mārkaṇḍeya, as narrator-sage, gestures toward a riverside shrine labeled Pāreśvara; the Narmadā flows behind; Parāśara is depicted in the background in ascetic posture, indicating the site’s sanctification.
Sacred geography is validated by saintly presence: tīrthas gain authority through the tapas and residence of great ṛṣis.
Pāreśvara, an unsurpassed Śaiva sacred site on the auspicious bank of the Narmadā.
A yātrā instruction: “one should go” to Pāreśvara as part of the Narmadā tīrtha circuit.
