kathaṃ mlecchasamākīrṇo deśo'yaṃ dvijasattama | etadācakṣva māṃ brahmanmārkaṇḍeya mahāmate
Wahai yang terbaik antara kaum dwija, bagaimana negeri ini menjadi dipenuhi oleh mleccha? Jelaskan hal ini kepadaku, wahai brāhmaṇa yang mulia, wahai Mārkaṇḍeya yang berjiwa agung.
