Skanda Purana — Avanti Khanda, Shloka 28

ततो ज्ञात्वा महद्भूतं क्षुधाविष्टं द्विजर्षभम् । न जहाति नगश्छायां पानार्थाय ततः परम् । अपिबच्च सुतं तस्मादभृतं चैव भारत

tato jñātvā mahadbhūtaṃ kṣudhāviṣṭaṃ dvijarṣabham | na jahāti nagaśchāyāṃ pānārthāya tataḥ param | apibacca sutaṃ tasmādabhṛtaṃ caiva bhārata

Maka setelah mengetahui keadaan yang amat besar—si dwija-utama, laksana lembu jantan di antara para brāhmaṇa, dikuasai kelaparan—dia tidak meninggalkan teduhan pohon itu, walau demi mencari minuman. Wahai Bhārata, dia menyusu daripadanya lalu memelihara anaknya agar terus hidup.
