Mārkaṇḍeya (contextual, continuing narration in Revā Khaṇḍa)
Tirtha: Bhairava (Bhṛgutunga) and Capaleśvara (paired stations)
Type: temple
Listener: Yudhiṣṭhira
Scene: Two shrines on the northern bank: one fierce-protective (Bhairava) and one liṅga (Capaleśvara). A pilgrim couple bows; a second traveler who turns away is shown beset by symbolic obstacles (storm, thorny path), illustrating the verse’s warning.
Pilgrimage becomes complete through reverent darśana, pūjā, and namaskāra; neglect of sacred stations invites inner and outer obstacles.
The paired sacred stations on the northern bank of the Revā—contextually Bhairava at Bhṛgutunga and the Capaleśvara tīrtha.
Perform worship (abhyarcya) and bowing (natvā) to the two sacred presences to obtain the full merit of the yātrā.
