Śiva (deduced from the immediate continuation: “śaṅkaraḥ abravīt” in the next verse)
Tirtha: Revā (Narmadā)
Type: river
Listener: Vratī/pilgrim as addressee
Scene: A vratī bathes in the flowing Revā at dawn, then offers abundant charity on the bank; the earth is imagined as the seven continents encircled by oceans, receiving satisfaction.
Pilgrimage is completed by generosity: sacred bathing in the Revā should be followed by abundant charity for fuller merit.
The Revā (Narmadā) river and its sacred waters as a tīrtha within the Revā-khaṇḍa.
Snāna (bathing) in the Revā followed by dāna (giving charity), especially by one observing a vrata.
