या सा क्षुत्क्षामकण्ठा विकृतभयकरी त्रासिनी दुष्कृतानां मुञ्चज्ज्वालाकलापैर्दशनकसमसैः खादति प्रेतमांसम् । या सा दोर्दण्डचण्डैर्डमरुरणरणाटोपटंकारघण्टैः कल्पान्तोत्पातवाताहतपटुपटहैर्वल्गते भूतमाता । क्षुत्क्षामा शुष्ककुक्षिः खवरतरनरवरैः क्षोदति प्रेतमांसं मुञ्चन्ती चाट्टहासं घुरघुरितरवा पातु वश्चर्ममुण्डा
yā sā kṣutkṣāmakaṇṭhā vikṛtabhayakarī trāsinī duṣkṛtānāṃ muñcajjvālākalāpairdaśanakasamasaiḥ khādati pretamāṃsam | yā sā dordaṇḍacaṇḍairḍamaruraṇaraṇāṭopaṭaṃkāraghaṇṭaiḥ kalpāntotpātavātāhatapaṭupaṭahairvalgate bhūtamātā | kṣutkṣāmā śuṣkakukṣiḥ khavarataranaravaraiḥ kṣodati pretamāṃsaṃ muñcantī cāṭṭahāsaṃ ghuraghuritaravā pātu vaścarmamuṇḍā
Semoga Dewi Carmamuṇḍā melindungi kamu—yang tekaknya kering kerana lapar, berwajah ganjil lagi menggerunkan hingga menakutkan para pendosa; yang dengan gigi laksana gugusan nyala api melahap daging mayat. Dialah Ibu para bhūta, berlengan garang, di tengah gemerincing ḍamaru dan loceng yang riuh, mengembara dalam dentuman gendang besar yang dipalu angin pralaya. Lapar dan susut, berperut kering, dia meremukkan daging mayat bersama manusia-manusia paling ngeri; melepaskan tawa aṭṭahāsa yang lantang dan bunyi bergemuruh—semoga Carmamuṇḍā melindungi kamu.

Scene: Carmamuṇḍā as emaciated, flame-toothed Devī in a cremation-ground windstorm of pralaya: ḍamaru, bells, kettledrums; spirits swirling; her loud laughter reverberating as she protects the devotee.
