तच्छ्रुत्वा काकवचनं चाणक्यो नृपसत्तमः । नाहं जीवे विदित्वैवं वञ्चितः केन कर्हिचित्
tacchrutvā kākavacanaṃ cāṇakyo nṛpasattamaḥ | nāhaṃ jīve viditvaivaṃ vañcitaḥ kena karhicit
Setelah mendengar kata-kata burung gagak itu, Cāṇakya—yang terbaik antara para raja—(berkata dalam hati): “Mengetahui demikian, aku tidak akan terus hidup, kerana telah diperdaya oleh sesiapa pun pada bila-bila masa.”
