Type: tirtha
Listener: Bhārata/Mahārāja (king)
Scene: A pilgrim seated in meditation by the river recites Gāyatrī with a mala; above, symbolic scrolls of Ṛg, Yajur, and Sāma appear as radiant forms merging into the single Gāyatrī mantra, indicating equivalence of fruit.
A single, concentrated mantra-practice (Gāyatrī-japa) can embody the essence and merit of extensive Vedic recitation.
The teaching occurs in the Somatīrtha context of Revākhaṇḍa, implying the tīrtha amplifies the efficacy of japa.
Perform japa of the Gāyatrī, presented as yielding merit comparable to recitation of the three Vedas.
