कुरुक्षेत्रं त्यजध्वं च पुत्रदारसमन्विताः । त्यक्त्वोदीचीं दिशं सर्वे यामो याम्यामनुत्तमाम्
kurukṣetraṃ tyajadhvaṃ ca putradārasamanvitāḥ | tyaktvodīcīṃ diśaṃ sarve yāmo yāmyāmanuttamām
Tinggalkanlah Kurukṣetra bersama anak-anak dan para isteri. Setelah meninggalkan arah utara, marilah kita semua menuju penjuru selatan yang tiada bandingnya.
The unnamed great sage (first-person narrator) instructing the gathered vipras/ṛṣis
Scene: A caravan-like departure from Kurukṣetra: elders leading, families with children, carts and cattle, turning away from the northern horizon toward the southern road; banners of vows and ascetic staffs indicate a dharmic migration.
Dharma includes decisive action: relocating to a sustaining sacred landscape can preserve life and enable continued tapas and worship.
Kurukṣetra is the departure point; the instruction points toward the southern sacred region where Revā/Narmadā flows.
A practical prescription is given: depart with one’s household and proceed southward.
