Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
The verse sanctifies the teaching by naming authoritative rishis, indicating an unbroken lineage (paramparā) through which Shaiva wisdom about Pati (Shiva) and liberation is preserved and transmitted.
By grounding the discourse in a recognized rishi-tradition, the Purana signals that Linga-worship and devotion to Saguna Shiva are not isolated practices but time-honored disciplines upheld by seers who realized Shiva’s grace through scriptural observance and contemplation.
The verse itself lists sages rather than a rite; the implied takeaway is to follow the authenticated Shaiva path—daily Shiva-smaraṇa with the Panchākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), along with traditional supports like bhasma (Tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa as taught in the wider Shiva Purana.
