Sthala Purana: The verse emphasizes that ‘by attaining this’ liberation comes quickly, and that the truth is clarified by direct vision (dṛṣṭa-tejas). In Kāśī, such direct encounter with liṅga-tejas is treated as a decisive upadeśa-like catalyst for mokṣa.

Significance: Highlights pratyakṣa-anubhava (direct realization) as the clarifier of doctrine; Kāśī darśana is framed as experiential proof leading to swift liberation.

Role: teaching

FAQs

It emphasizes that liberation can arise swiftly when the seeker truly “attains” the intended means—understood in Shaiva Siddhanta as Shiva-centered realization supported by His grace—and that this truth must be confirmed by direct inner vision rather than mere argument.

The verse points to attainment that culminates in moksha; in the Shiva Purana this is typically approached through Saguna Shiva worship (such as Linga-upasana) that purifies and ripens the devotee, leading to direct insight (dṛṣṭi) where Shiva’s reality becomes evident.

The practical takeaway is steady Shiva-upasana that matures into direct contemplation—japa and meditation on Shiva (often via the Panchakshara) until the truth is “illumined” as inner tejas (spiritual clarity).
