ध्यानप्रकारनिर्णयः / Determination of the Modes of Meditation
on Śrīkaṇṭha-Śiva
शांतिः प्रशांतिर्दीप्तिश्च प्रसादश्च ततः परम् । शमः सर्वापदां चैव शांतिरित्यभिधीयते
śāṃtiḥ praśāṃtirdīptiśca prasādaśca tataḥ param | śamaḥ sarvāpadāṃ caiva śāṃtirityabhidhīyate
Kedamaian, ketenteraman yang mendalam, sinar batin, dan kejernihan yang hening—bahkan melampaui semuanya—serta pengendalian diri di tengah segala kesukaran: semuanya ini disebut “śānti”, yakni damai yang sejati.

It defines śānti not as mere outer quiet, but as an integrated Shaiva state—tranquillity, inner luminosity, grace-filled clarity, and steady self-restraint even when difficulties arise—supporting liberation through Shiva’s prasāda.
In Linga-worship, the devotee approaches Saguna Shiva to receive prasāda (serene clarity and grace). That grace matures into śama (mastery of mind), which the Purana here treats as the lived mark of śānti.
Practice japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namah Shivaya) with steady breath and a calm mind, aiming for prasāda (settled clarity) and śama (restraint), especially when facing adversity.
