Analysis of Yogic Obstacles (Antarāyas) and Upasargas
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It points to inner worship: the yogin visualizes the luminous two-petalled lotus at the brow-centre, refining awareness toward Shiva (Pati) by steadying the mind where subtle knowledge awakens.
The external Linga worship is mirrored inwardly: the devotee contemplates Shiva’s presence in the subtle center between the eyebrows, treating the inner lotus as a seat (pīṭha) for Saguna-dhyana that matures toward realization of Shiva beyond form.
Bhrūmadhya-dhyana: focus attention between the eyebrows, visualize a lightning-bright two-petalled lotus, and support the concentration with Shiva-mantra japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”).
