Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Significance: Positions Śiva as the original revealer (ādi-guru) who empowers secondary agents with jñāna for cosmic administration; remembering this hierarchy fosters humility and right orientation in worship.
Role: teaching
Cosmic Event: Primordial transmission of knowledge (jñāna-saṃhitā) establishing instrumental causality in cosmic functions.
The verse emphasizes that sacred knowledge is not merely human scholarship; it is authorized by Shiva (Pati) and transmitted for the soul’s uplift, establishing the recipients as instruments in the divine dissemination of jñāna that leads toward liberation.
By stating that Shiva personally grants the compendia of knowledge, the verse supports Saguna Shiva as the compassionate Lord who reveals doctrine and worship-methods; such revealed knowledge undergirds Linga-upāsanā and disciplined devotion guided by scripture.
The takeaway is śravaṇa and adhyayana (listening and study) under Shiva’s authority, paired with steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to internalize the revealed teaching and make oneself a fit instrument for dharma and moksha.
