लिङ्गप्रतिष्ठा-माहात्म्यम् / The Greatness of Liṅga Installation
रजसा बद्धवैरस्तं ब्रह्मा पुनरभाषत । वत्सेति मां कुतो ब्रूषे गुरुः शिष्यमिवात्मनः
rajasā baddhavairastaṃ brahmā punarabhāṣata | vatseti māṃ kuto brūṣe guruḥ śiṣyamivātmanaḥ
Kemudian Brahmā berkata lagi kepadanya, yang permusuhannya telah terikat kuat oleh rajas: “Wahai anak tersayang, mengapa engkau memanggilku ‘wahai anak’? Engkau berbicara kepadaku seolah-olah engkau guru dan aku muridmu sendiri.”

The verse highlights how rajas (passionate agitation) can bind the mind into fixed hostility and ego, distorting right relationship and humility—an inner bondage (pāśa) that must be transcended for clarity and liberation in Shaiva thought.
By implying that rajas-driven pride and antagonism cloud discernment, the verse supports the Shaiva emphasis that Saguna Shiva worship (including Linga-upāsanā) purifies the guṇas, softens ego, and restores proper reverence and inner order.
A practical takeaway is to pacify rajas through japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with steady breath and a sattvic discipline; this counters reactive enmity and cultivates humility before the guru and the Divine.
