Pañcāvaraṇa-mārga Stotra to Yogeśvara Śiva

Suta Goswami (narrating the Vayu Samhita discourse to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Offering: naivedya
The verse teaches that when a being is infused with śivajñāna (knowledge of Shiva), their function aligns with Shiva’s grace: obstacles are removed for dharmic seekers while impediments arise for forces opposed to dharma—showing Shiva’s governance as Pati over both protection and restraint.
Vighneśa is described as śiva-bhāvita—operating as an instrument of Saguna Shiva’s will. In Linga-worship, devotees seek Shiva’s anugraha (grace); the same grace manifests as ‘avighna’ for the devoted, and as ‘vighna’ for those who act against Shiva’s order.
Begin undertakings with devotion to Shiva and Vighneśa: mentally offer the act to Shiva (īśvara-arpana) and recite the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to align intention with Shiva’s will, seeking avighna (unobstructed progress) in dharma.
