It lists Shiva’s operative Shaktis—powers by which the Lord governs transformation and restraint. In Shaiva Siddhanta terms, these express Pati’s sovereignty over pasha (bondage) and the ordered disciplining of beings toward purification and liberation.
In Linga worship, devotees approach Shiva as Saguna Pati—the Lord with knowable attributes—whose Shaktis uphold the cosmos and subdue egoic force. Contemplating these names while worshipping the Linga deepens awareness that all power ultimately belongs to Shiva.
A practical takeaway is nāma-smaraṇa (repetition) of these Shakti-names alongside the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” offering one’s strength and impulses into Shiva’s restraint (damana) through japa and steady meditation.
