Pañcāvaraṇa-mārga Stotra to Yogeśvara Śiva
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Frames the devas’ reverence and the divine mandate of lokarakṣaṇa (world-protection), a general merit-theme supporting pilgrimage and śiva-darśana as protective and stabilizing (rakṣā) for the devotee and society.
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
It highlights the divine function of protecting all worlds: the Gods (as Pati, the Lordly principle) are revered even by Brahmā and the Devas because they uphold cosmic order and safeguard beings bound by pāśa (bondage).
By portraying the Deity as actively engaged in universal protection, it supports Saguna worship—approaching Shiva (and the divine principle) as compassionate guardian; Linga-worship honors that same supreme reality in an accessible, protective form.
A practical takeaway is daily reverential worship (satkāra) with mantra-japa—especially the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—cultivating the attitude of seeking refuge in Shiva as the protector of all worlds.
