Pañcāvaraṇa-mārga Stotra to Yogeśvara Śiva
शिवप्रियः शिवासक्तश्शिवपादार्चने रतः । सत्कृत्य शिवयोराज्ञां स मे दिशतु मंगलम्
śivapriyaḥ śivāsaktaśśivapādārcane rataḥ | satkṛtya śivayorājñāṃ sa me diśatu maṃgalam
Suta Goswami (narrating within the Vayu Samhita discourse to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga narrative; it is a devotional benediction invoking one ‘dear to Śiva’ who worships Śiva’s feet and honors the command of the Divine Pair (Śiva-Śivā).
Significance: Models siddhāntic śaraṇāgati: devotion to Śiva’s pāda (feet) and obedience to Śiva-Śakti’s ordinance yields maṅgala and prepares the paśu for anugraha (grace).
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It praises the ideal Śaiva devotee—one who loves Śiva, remains absorbed in Him, and worships His feet—affirming that such devotion, aligned with the divine ordinance of Śiva-Śakti, becomes a channel for maṅgala (grace and auspiciousness).
By emphasizing śivapādārcana (worship of Śiva’s feet), the verse supports Saguna upāsanā—devotional worship through form and ritual—commonly expressed in Shiva Purana through Liṅga-pūjā, abhiṣeka, and reverent service that invites Śiva’s grace.
Practice devoted Shiva-pūjā with humility—especially pādārchana (symbolic worship of the Lord’s feet), mantra-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and living in accordance with Śiva-Śakti’s ājñā (scriptural and guru-guided discipline).
