FAQs

It teaches that the highest protection for the bound soul (paśu) is not worldly support but taking refuge in the supreme Pati—Lord Shiva—through a sanctifying Shaiva discipline; such commitment leads to śubha (spiritual auspiciousness) and progress toward liberation.

In the Shiva Purana, “this sacred practice” is commonly embodied as steady Saguna worship—especially Linga-upāsanā—through which the devotee approaches Shiva’s grace; the Linga becomes the accessible refuge that protects and uplifts the soul.

A practical takeaway is consistent Shaiva sādhana such as japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), Linga-pūjā with devotion, and supportive observances like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as aids to remembrance and discipline.
