(Pūjāvidhāna-vyākhyā) — Exposition of the Procedure of Worship

Tattva Level: pashu
Sthala Purana: A pūrvāṅga instruction: mentally construct and purify ritual materials (mānasa-kalpanā/śuddhi), then invoke and worship Vināyaka to remove obstacles before Śiva-pūjā proceeds.
Significance: Highlights the practical pilgrim’s principle: obstacle-removal (Vināyaka) and inner purification precede successful darśana and worship of Śiva.
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that Shaiva worship begins with inner and outer purification—first ordering the rite in the mind, then sanctifying the offerings—so devotion becomes disciplined and sattvic, fit for approaching Pati (Lord Shiva) through proper worship.
Vināyaka is invoked as the remover of obstacles at the threshold of worship; by meditating on him and performing rite “according to injunction,” the practitioner ensures the Linga-puja proceeds without impediments and remains aligned with āgamic/vaidika procedure central to Saguna Shiva worship.
A brief pūrvāṅga: mentally prepare the upacāras (offerings), purify them (through mantra/sprinkling and intent), then perform dhyāna of Vināyaka and worship him as prescribed before commencing the main Shaiva rite.
