Maṇḍala–Pūjā–Homa Krama
Maṇḍala Worship and Homa Sequence for the Disciple
Suta Goswami (narrating the Vāyavīya teaching to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It teaches that true approach to Śiva is through sukṛta (right, purifying action) joined with humility—expressed as full surrender (daṇḍavat praṇāma) under the guidance of the guru, aligning the soul (paśu) toward the Lord (Pati).
The verse emphasizes devotional submission and bodily reverence before the Deva—an attitude central to Saguna worship, including Liṅga-pūjā, where the devotee petitions Śiva with purity of conduct and bows in complete self-offering.
Guru-led devotion: perform meritorious disciplines (sukṛta), formally offer one’s prayer to Śiva, and do daṇḍavat praṇāma; this pairs naturally with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and simple Śiva-pūjā with a surrendered mind.
