Murid itu juga, setelah menerima (benda suci/ajaran) daripada Śiva-ācārya dengan penuh hormat, hendaklah menerimanya hanya menurut perintah preseptor (deśika) itu, dan bukan sebaliknya.

Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It establishes guru-ājñā (obedience to the preceptor’s command) as the safeguard of Shaiva sādhanā: what is received from a Śiva-ācārya bears fruit when accepted with reverence and practiced exactly as instructed, aligning the disciple with Śiva’s grace (anugraha).
Linga-worship and Saguna Śiva upāsanā are rule-governed in the Purāṇic-Āgamic spirit; this verse says the disciple should receive and apply the worship-method, mantra, and observances only as authorized by the guru, preventing self-willed innovations that weaken devotion and correctness.
It implies disciplined practice under initiation—receiving mantra (such as the Pañcākṣarī), along with associated observances (bhasma/tripuṇḍra, rudrākṣa, japa and pūjā rules) strictly according to the teacher’s instructions.
