Shiva Purana — Vayaviya Samhita, Shloka 68

शिवसंस्कार-दीक्षानिरूपणम् (Śivasaṃskāra and the Typology of Dīkṣā)

FAQs

It teaches that when outer performance is not possible, inner adherence to dharma still has spiritual power—purifying intention and restraining desire, which supports the Shaiva path of liberation through disciplined consciousness.

It supports the principle of manasa-puja (mental worship): even without external offerings to the Linga, one can honor Shiva through inward devotion, purity of thought, and faithful commitment to dharma.

Practice mental worship and japa—especially inward repetition of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—while maintaining self-control and purity of intention; external rites may be secondary when circumstances limit action.
