Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Śravaṇa–kīrtana of Śaiva teaching is declared a direct purifier of pāpa and a cause of ‘paramā gati’ (mokṣa/Śiva-sāyujya), functioning like a portable tīrtha through sound and devotion.
Type: stotra
It declares the phalaśruti (spiritual fruit): devoted recitation or attentive listening purifies karmic demerit and leads the seeker toward the supreme gati—liberation under Śiva’s grace, consistent with Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis on bhakti and anugraha (divine bestowal).
Reciting and hearing Śiva’s sacred narratives is a form of Saguna-upāsanā—approaching Śiva through name, teaching, and praise. Such śravaṇa-kīrtana supports Linga worship by steadying devotion and directing the mind to Śiva as Pati, the liberator.
A simple practice is Purāṇa-śravaṇa and kīrtana: listen to or chant this section with samāhita-citta (focused mind), ideally alongside Śiva japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and basic worship such as offering water to the Linga.
