श्रद्धामाहात्म्यं तथा देवीप्रश्नः

The Greatness of Śraddhā and Devī’s Question to Śiva

ममावतारा हि शुभे योगाचार्यच्छलेन तु । सर्वांतरेषु सन्त्यार्ये संततिश्च सहस्रशः । अयुक्तानामबुद्धीनामभक्तानां सुरेश्वरि । दुर्लभं संततिज्ञानं ततो यत्नात्समाश्रयेत्

mamāvatārā hi śubhe yogācāryacchalena tu | sarvāṃtareṣu santyārye saṃtatiśca sahasraśaḥ | ayuktānāmabuddhīnāmabhaktānāṃ sureśvari | durlabhaṃ saṃtatijñānaṃ tato yatnātsamāśrayet

Wahai Dewi yang membawa keberkatan, penjelmaan-Ku sesungguhnya berlaku dengan menyamar sebagai guru yoga; dan pada setiap zaman, wahai yang mulia, terdapat ribuan demi ribuan salasilah rohani. Namun bagi yang tidak berdisiplin, yang kurang kebijaksanaan, dan yang tiada bhakti—wahai Penguasa para dewa—pengetahuan sejati tentang salasilah yang sahih amat sukar diperoleh; maka hendaklah seseorang berlindung padanya dengan usaha yang bersungguh-sungguh.
